Washington, D.C. - Republicans in the House of Representatives have scheduled a hearing on the "Defense of Marriage Act," the third such anti-gay hearing in recent weeks.

The latest hearing will be held on Friday, April 15, at the Rayburn House Office Building. It's been called by the Judiciary Committee's subcommittee on the Constitution.

There is no witness list on the House website, but the goal of the hearing is clear from the title: "Defending Marriage."

The Human Rights Campaign said the country has more important things to think about.

"The Republican Party, and House Republicans in particular, seem to be fixated on beating up on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Americans," said HRC President Joe Solmonese. "The government is on the brink of shutting down, yet Republicans are still hell-bent on wasting tax-payer dollars fighting battles out of step with the American people's priorities."

Human Rights Campaign said the House also recently held two hearings on "Don't Ask, Don't Tell."
