The controversial Westboro Baptist Church (WBC), fresh from a Supreme Court ruling which allows them to continue picketing military funerals, is preparing to protest the funeral of legendary actress Elizabeth Taylor.

Margie Phelps, the daughter of Rev. Fred Phelps, made the announcement Wednesday afternoon via Twitter. Phelps called Taylor a gay "enabler" and an AIDS activist.

Always looking for attention - even negative - Westboro Baptist Church capitalizes on tragic events in an effort to share their hateful message.

The Topeka-based church gained national attention when they protested at the funeral of Matthew Shephard with signs that read "No Fags in Heaven" and "God Hates Fags."

Westboro Baptist Church, is not affiliated with a larger denomination and is made up mostly of the 71-year-old Fred Phelps' extended family. WBC is monitored by the Anti-Defamation League and is classified as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Earlier this month Nate Phelps, the son of Fred Phelps, spoke about the years of abuse he suffered at Westboro Baptist Church.

"I think that he's a sociopath," Nate Phelps reportedly said of his father. "I think that he fits that based on his inability to empathize with others, his calculated cruelty, and by laughing at the harm he causes. I've seen that growing up with him."

Elizabeth Taylor, who passed away Wednesday morning at the age of 79, is being remembered by friends as an amazing philanthropist who continued to be an active and very visible spokeswoman for the fight to find a cure for AIDS.
