Minneapolis, Minn. - Lady Gaga wanted to leverage a new deal with Target into better treatment of gays and lesbians, but it looks like the deal is off.

Lady Gaga was allowing Target to sell the deluxe edition of her new hit, "Born This Way."

In exchange, she told Billboard last month, "is that they have to start affiliating themselves with GLBT charity groups and begin to reform and make amends for the mistakes they've made in the past. Our relationship is hinged upon their reform."

The mistake she was referring to was the big financial donations Target made last summer to MN Forward PAC, a political action committee that supported Republican gubernatorial candidate Tom Emmer.

"[It was] one of the most intense conversations I've ever had in a business meeting," she said.

Lady Gaga's spokesperson said the deal was ended last week.

It's not yet clear what Target did (or didn't do) to fail to meet their end of the bargain.

Lady Gaga's deluxe edition was pulled off the Target website on Wednesday morning.
