Corpus Christi, Tx. -
Flour Bluff Independent School District in Corpus Christi, Texas, is so determined to exclude a gay student group from campus that they're also kicking out the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).
The drama started when a student, Bianca "Nikki" Peet, tried to start a Gay/Straight Alliance on campus. When the school refused to let them meet because of a policy that only allows clubs with ties to school curriculum to meet, they pointed out that the FCA is not tied to school curriculum.
The school superintendent has now asked the FCA to meet off-campus while the policy is examined.
"We feel like we need to follow the policy in place," Superintendent Julie Carbajal told the Corpus Christi Caller. "If we've made any wrong judgments then we have to fix that because we are not looking at changing our policy."
Carbajal told the newspaper there is no way that she'll allow the Gay/Straight Alliance on campus.
