Rugby team members to compete in drag competition

Chicago, IL - Chicago Dragons Rugby Football Club, Chicago's gay rugby team, will be presenting their Annual Miss Ruck 'N Maul Pageant Fundraiser on Saturday, February 19.

Miss Ruck 'N Maul is the team's annual drag show fundraiser where several of the its players ditch the shorts and cleats for sequins, wigs and heels in a knock-out, drag-out competition. Chicago's Frida Lay will be hosting the evening's event and performers will lip sync and dance to compete for the title of Miss Ruck 'N Maul 2011.

Guest judges for the event include celebrity chef Art Smith, entertainer Samwell, and director Ky Dickens.

Chicago celebrity chef and owner of Table fifty-two, Art Smith was featured as a contestant on Top Chef Masters. Samwell, who was featured on Comedy Central's Tosh.0, became an internet celebrity with the video "What What (In the Butt)". Ky Dickens directed and produced "Fish Out of Water," an award winning documentary that explores the impassioned relationship between homosexuality and the Bible.

All proceeds from this event will help the Chicago Dragons fund their annual operating cost (e.g. park/field rentals, sporting equipment, coaching staff, tournament fees, travel expenses, etc).

The Chicago Dragons Rugby Football Club is the first rugby club in the Midwest established to invite members from traditionally under-represented groups, particularly gay men, to engage in the world's third most popular team sport. The Dragons welcome newcomers, as well as experienced players, coaches and fans of all ages, races and sexual orientations.

The Dragons are a Division III member of the Midwest and Chicago Area Rugby Football Unions. The Dragons dedicated to competitive play within our Division.

Miss Ruck 'N Maul 2011 will take place Saturday February 19, 2011 from 5-8pm at Sidetrack Chicago, 3349 N. Halsted Street, Chicago, IL 60657. Advance tickets are available at http://www.chicagodragons.org for $20, tickets purchased at the door are $25. Admission includes 2 drink tickets.
