Borders out of wristbands for Friday's engagement

Chicago, IL - International superstar Ricky Martin, who is returning to the spotlight after coming out gay on his website in March, arrives in Chicago Friday night to promote his new memoir, entitled Me.

The 38-year-old Martin, father of twin boys Valentino and Matteo, is speaking publicly for the first time since making the decision to come out.

"Before I decided to become a father, I already accepted who I was. I was happy with who I was. When I held my children, I said, OK it was time to tell the world," Martin told Oprah Winfrey in a televised interview to coincide with the book's release last week.

"I couldn't take it anymore, Oprah," he said. "It was too painful."

Martin, who has sold more than 60 million albums worldwide, will sign copies of his new book at the Lincoln Park Borders, 2817 N Clark, beginning at 6 p.m.

ChicagoPride.com has confirmed that all 650 wristbands have been given out to eager fans, who began lining up early Friday morning.

A Spanish version of Martin's new book, entitled Yo, is also available.
