Piscataway, N.J. - Tyler Clementi, the gay Rutgers student who committed suicide after his roommate had secretly broadcast him having sex, had already complained to the resident adviser (RA) about that roommate.

Early on Sept. 22, the NY Post reports that Clementi noticed the webcam was pointed towards his bed.

On the website "JustUsBoys," he wrote: "I ran to the nearest RA and set this thing in motion ... [Dharun Ravi] doing it again just set me off. "Meanwhile I turned off and unplugged his computer, went crazy looking for other hidden cams ... and then had a great time."

Seventeen hours later, Clementi killed himself. Ravi and another Rutgers student, Molly Wei, have been charged with invasion of privacy and could face even more charges.

On Saturday, the Rutgers community observed a moment of silence before a football game. And, Clementi's seat at a symphony recital remained empty.

Clementi's parents Joe and Jane released a brief statement.

"Regardless of legal outcomes, our hope is that our family's personal tragedy will serve as a call for compassion, empathy and human dignity."
