Gloria Estefan's New Album Is #1

Miami, FL - Epic/Sony Discos Recording artist Gloria Estefan's latest Spanish-language album "Alma Caribena" released May 22 is topping the charts around the world. The album's first single "No Me Dejes de Querer" is at the no.1 radio airplay chart position on the Billboard Hot Latin Charts, and the album debuted at no.1 on the Soundscan Latin Sales Chart for the United States and Puerto Rico.
"Alma Caribena" is also achieving impressive results in many markets throughout the world. This week the Album is no.1 in Spain, no.11 in Italy, no.11 in Portugal, no.9 in Switzerland, no.33 in Germany, no.44 in the United Kingdom. Chart positions from Latin America will be released this week.
"Alma Caribena" is Gloria's first Spanish-language album in five years. Her previous Spanish albums "Mi Tierra" and "Abriendo Puertas" were both GRAMMY winning albums. "Alma Caribena" incorporates the rhythms and cultures of the Caribbean nations that have left their imprint in today's Spanish speaking world, such as the New York salsa influenced by such countries as Cuba, Puerto Rico, and Panama.
This week, Gloria is scheduled to make various television appearances. Tomorrow morning she will perform live from Rockefeller Center on NBC's Today Show "Summer Concert Series" and her first network television special "Gloria Estefan: Caribbean Soul-The Atlantis Concert" will be rebroadcast tomorrow evening at 9PM EST on CBS.
