Entertainment lineup and ticket sales expected in late July or early August

Milwaukee Pride, organizer of the annual PrideFest, has decided to move forward with a smaller event to take place on October 8 and 9 at Henry W. Maier Festival Park. Organizers hope the event will satisfy the thirst of LGBTQ persons in Wisconsin and nearby metropolitan Chicago who missed out on a cancelled PrideFest.

The Friday, Oct. 8 event will happen between 3 p.m. to midnight and the Saturday, Oct. 9 event will happen between noon and midnight.

Milwaukee Pride Vice President Luke Olson said the group will take advantage of October being National LGBTQ History Month, "We just couldn't wait until 2022 to see our LGBTQ family and allies again."

Festival Park will have multiple stages with a lineup of entertainment yet to be announced. Organizers hope to utilize local performers and locally produced shows. They will also feature an array of local food trucks.

Milwaukee Pride President Wes Shaver says they are cooperating with the City of Milwaukee and the state health department to ensure a safe environment considering the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

"We are excited to bridge the gap between recent summers and what we expect will be a fully open and back to normal 2022," Shaver said. "It's time to bring businesses and communities back to life."
