Pride flag burning attempted at Rogers Park leather store, nightclub

Chicago, IL - Ald. Andre Vasquez (40th) noted an attempt was made to set fire to a massive Pride flag on display above Leather64Ten, 6410 N. Clark St. The Touché nightclub is next door.

According to the city councilman, Chicago Police Department 24^th district officers apprehended the suspect.

“Here in our city and definitely in our ward, there is no room for bigotry of any type,” Vasquez said. “We are an intentionally inclusive community that understands that we are all one people and neighbors first."

He continued, “We stand proudly in love and solidarity with out [LGBTQ] community. We will always protect siblings in the struggle."

This past weekend, Pride celebrations were underway across the city and nation.

Pride parades and festivals happen around June 28, a date that commemorates the 1969 Stonewall uprising for LGBTQ rights.

GoPride.com contacted the Chicago Police Department and have yet to receive a response.
