Reel Pride Michigan Rolls Out Line-up for 2004

Detroit, MI - Triangle Foundation and the Reel Pride Michigan Host Committee are proud to announce highlights and festival line-up for REEL PRIDE MICHIGAN- Michigan’s GLBT Film Festival for 2004.

Reel Pride Michigan is scheduled for January 16-23, 2004 at the Main Art Theatre, located at 118 North Main Street, Royal Oak, Michigan, 48067, and promises to be another festival filled with films that truly celebrate the love, lives and diversity of the glbt community.

Over the eight day festival, Reel Pride Michigan will play host to 22 screenings, over 40 films, an Opening Night Gala, a Closing Night Event, after-parties, as well as various activities including a Youth Program, panel discussions and opportunities to meet directors and stars from select films.

Among the highlights of the festival for 2004 is the Opening Night Gala on Friday, January 16, 8 pm featuring the Merchant/Ivory film Merci Docteur Rey. Academy award winning actress Dianne Wiest gives the term “diva” a whole new definition in Merchant/Ivory’s eclectic and farcical romp through the streets of Paris. The evening continues at a private reception at Jim Fresard Automotive Dealerships located at 400 North Main Street, Royal Oak, Michigan. Special guests from the film are scheduled to appear giving Reel Pride Michigan moviegoers an opportunity to mingle among the stars.

The Opening Night Gala is just the beginning! Reel Pride Michigan is packed with a some of the year’s most dynamic films including: the sexy and alluring Spanish thriller BULGARIAN LOVERS; Sara Millman’s MANGO KISS where it is learned that mangos are for more than just eating; the award winning documentary BROTHER OUTSIDER: THE LIFE OF BAYARD RUSTIN; the international thriller TRANSFIXED; the hard-edged Rock-n-Roll drama PREY FOR ROCK & ROLL; the powerful tale of Jim Wheeler as told in the film JIM IN BOLD and; of course everyone’s favorites OUT! In Boys Shorts: Series of Short Films for Men and Girls Night OUT!: A Series of Short Films for Women.

These and many more are all part of Reel Pride Michigan for 2004.
