Chicago, IL - Legendary comedienne Lily Tomlin entertained more than 1,100 well-dressed supporters during the Center on Halsted's Human First 2010 gala at the Harris Theatre for Music and Dance on Saturday night.

The evening, to benefit the community center's LGBT programming, was hosted by Chicago-native Hal Sparks and included musical entertainment by Oleta Adams.

The Human First award was given to longtime LGBT community activist and philanthropist Martin Gapshis, who, as co-chair of the Center's capital campaign, helped raise $20 million for the construction of the organization's current Lakeview location.

"We were so thrilled to celebrate our 20th annual Human First Gala at the Harris Theater," Center on Halsted CEO Modesto Tico Valle told ChicagoPride.com. "Hal Sparks was a gracious host, Oleta Adams gave a phenomenal performance, and Lily Tomlin had the crowd in stitches. We wouldn't be the Center on Halsted without the overwhelming support of our patrons, volunteers, donors and guests, who turned out in a big way to make the evening a success."

The Center on Halsted's 60,000-square-foot facility located at 3656 N. Halsted officially opened on June 5, 2007.

Chicago Foundation for Women and Walgreens were presented with the Community Spirit Award during last night's gala.

The evening ended with a special meet-and-greet with Tomlin and Adams on the Jay Pritzker Pavilion Stage in Millennium Park.
