She just hasn't found "Mr. Right"

Chicago, IL - Some friends of Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan are trying to answer one of the hottest questions on the internet: Is she a lesbian?

The rumors have been going around since last month, when Kagan's name first came up as a possible nominee and a conservative blogger on CBS News claimed she is gay. The White House was pretty unhappy about that, and CBS News retracted the blog.

Now Politico is running around interviewing Kagan's friends about her sexual preference.

"I've known her for most of her adult life and I know she's straight," former law school roommate Sarah Walzer told Politico.

"She dated men when we were in law school, we talked about men — who in our class was cute, who she would like to date, all of those things," said Walzer. "She definitely dated when she was in D.C. after law school, when she was in Chicago – and she just didn't find the right person."

Kagan is 50-years-old, has never been married, and has no children.

Conservative gay blogger Andrew Sullivan says his sources say she's a lesbian.

"We have been told by many that she is gay ... and no one will ask directly if this is true and no one in the administration will tell us definitively," he writes.

He says that President Obama has an obligation to be honest about Kagan's sexual preference.

"He has, after all, told us that one of his criteria for a Supreme Court Justice is knowing what it feels like to be on the wrong side of legal discrimination," Sullivan writes.

"Does [Obama] view Kagan's possible life-experience as a gay woman relevant to this? Did Obama even ask about it? Are we ever going to know one way or the other? Does she have a spouse? Is this spouse going to be forced into the background in a way no heterosexual spouse ever would be?"
