Chicagoan's David Kaufman and Tom Segal Honored at Vox/Out Voices of Style+Design Awards

Chicago Visionaries to Receive Award Celebrating Signature Style

Chicago, IL - VOX® Vodka and Out magazine are proud to honor interior designers and business partners David Kaufman and Tom Segal with the VOX/Out Voices of Style+Design Award. The highly respected industry award, created in 2001 by VOX Vodka and Out magazine, honors openly gay and lesbian individuals whose works have come to signify style, vision and design. The third of five honorees nationwide, Kaufman and Segal will receive the award at the Chicago Historical Society, 1601 N. Clark St., Chicago, on August 5.



Kaufman and Segal are the visionaries behind Kaufman Segal Design, a cutting-edge Chicago design firm that specializes in high-end residential interiors. With backgrounds in interior design and architecture, Kaufman and Segal bring vast knowledge and refined style into the home. In 2000, they received the Fashion Group International’s Style Makers and Rule Breakers Award. Later this fall, their work will be seen on HGTV’s “Designer’s Challenge.”



In addition to leading the way in the design industry, Kaufman and Segal are also leaders in the Chicago community. Both serve on the board of directors of Harrington College of Design. Kaufman also volunteers for Open Hand Chicago and the Heart’s Foundation, while Segal serves on the board of directors of Howard Brown Health Center and donates time to Who's That Girl.

The VOX/Out Voices of Style+Design Awards were created by VOX Vodka and Out magazine in 2001 to honor openly gay individuals whose works have come to signify American style. The honorees are selected each year by the editors of Out. Past recipients have included Todd Oldham (New York), Nate Berkus (Chicago) and Greg Gorman (Los Angeles). Two more VOX/Out Voices of Style+Design events will take place this year in San Francisco (Chip Conley) and Miami (Steven Giles).
