Another Good Read

Chicago has become a big stop for authors on their book tours through the years. It seems like every week someone is in town telling all their business for the world to read for the low price of $25.99. When you are out on Hollywood Beach there is nothing like a good star story to keep you company in the hot sun.

Over the weekend Chaz Bono arrived to support Howard Brown. With a new book entitled "Transitions" he stayed for a few days to appear on Oprah and promote the story. Bono spoke openly of going under the knife and growing up famous in the pages.

Now more popular than ever Betty White strutted into Barnes & Noble Bookseller in Skokie the following day to sign "If You Ask Me (And of Course You Won't)." Fan camped out as early as 4:00 am that day to meet her at 2:00 pm. The last Golden Girl gives the scoop about her turning down As Good As It Gets because of the mistreatment of animals in the plot and behind the scenes of her many appearances.

More books with retro stars from Barbara Eden with her Jeanie Out of the Bottle to Marlo Thomas Growing Up Laughing: My Story and the Story of Funny talking about their days on the set.

Meredith Baxter talks about the life of a lesbian and Family Ties in "Untied."

Rob Lowe strips naked in his tome "Stories I Only Tell My Friends" and Steven Tyler cashes in on American Idol with "Does the Noise in My Head Bother You?"

Chelsea Handler signed copies for an hour before her show with her group comedian project "Lies That Chelsea Handler Told Me" at Macy's on State.

Who has time to read all of this?

Well, I better get crackin' because I have to interview Shirley MacLaine for her new one called "I'm Over All That and Other Confessions." With only a week to cram about her out of body experiences and life with the Rat Pack, I am starting to feel over all these autobiographies!!!
