Windy City GaGay Idol

Windy City Gay Idol is now celebrating its 9th year. I have been involved with it from the beginning. Whether it was working the door, counting votes or judging on the microphone, I have seen this little bar event grow to huge proportions.

Lady Gaga even performed a few years ago at the finals for Circuit Nightclub, talk about hitting it big!

I like to judge a few times during the run of the competition, recently at Spin and this week at Jackhammer. Years ago I started giving out sexiest contestant prizes to add something a little different and give props to maybe not the best singer but someone who has some style with performing.

Watching contenders return year after year to sing their hearts out in loud venues in front of our critiques really makes them our idols just for trying.

The finals this year will be held at Sidetrack, 3349 N Halsted, where the winner gains $1,000 cash, a vacation plus a shot at singing during a Chicago Cubs game this summer.
