Neon Gardens has planted itself as a new restaurant right in the heart of Lincoln Park. Located at 2576 North Lincoln Avenue, this hot spot is replacing tacos with pizza from the previous tenant Broken English.
The Slice Hut takes New York-style pizza and combines it with a playful Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles theme. This includes fun decor and standup video games as part of an active environment. There's an outdoor courtyard seating and opportunities for private parties.
Plans for the space include a build-out of a small stage for a variety of upcoming programming and this aligns with the Neon After Dark philosophy that occurs each night at 9 p.m. for adult activities.
Patrons can cut loose inside the venue at that time once the kiddies leave with unique craft cocktails in two bar areas surrounded by graffiti and art from Chicago's local talent.
Seasonal drink offerings include a fruity vodka-based concoction called Summer in Sicily and a Purple Smash made with whiskey. The espresso martini will energize the party with a little Tia Maria liqueur.
For nourishment start with a salad such as the brussel sprout caesar with anchovies combining arugula and romaine lettuces.
Appetizers to nibble on include fried calamari, served with a tangy marinara sauce, and breaded chicken tenders with other sauces including the Neon-Fil-A.
The moon will hit your eye like a big pizza pie that diners with any taste will love. Thin slices to pick from include the delicious Carne Sausage for meat lovers and Mac N Cheese for cheddar lovers. Guests can also build their own pizzas as well.
To finish out the experience try a handmade gelato for dessert. This Italian ice cream comes in the basic Neapolitan flavors of chocolate, strawberry and vanilla then expands to specialty ingredients such as the rich Cookie Monster and chunky Chicago Pothole selections.
