More From … Miss Toto
Looking ahead … 5 Years: “I (have) to be careful because everything I put into the universe happens. I know I am going to be producing my zine, GORE WHORE, again this year and producing a full album with visuals included. Eventually, I would love to get to a point where I am managing artists myself since I have been my own manager from the beginning and as a drag artist and DJ; I understand the business from a different perspective.”
The Real Miss Toto: “I am transparent, but my close friends and partner see a side of me that a lot of people don't. Miss Toto is an extension of me, sure, but she is also a character who I created. Miss Toto and Rock are not the same so some people may only see me as Miss Toto, the party girl, when in my day-to-day, I like to play video games, listen to vinyl, and hang out with my dog.”
Defining Moment: “The moment I knew I was on the right track was when my friend, Devan Shimoyama, did a portrait of me and it was displayed at the opening of his show at the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh. I flew up and performed at the opening in front of so many people, including my family. Andy Warhol also was one of my favorite artists growing up, so it felt wild to have a portrait of myself in this museum, hung up in the hall with so many other queer artists who inspire me.”
And, Finally: “Be on the lookout this fall for a lot of new things that I'm working. And if you want to find me, make sure you follow me on Instagram where I post all my upcoming gigs.”
