After recently visiting Pixar Putt's pop-up at Navy Pier it was time for something a little more adult as far as miniature golf goes. Jack's Big City Ranch just moseyed into town and it is certainly worth the trip. The location of 1261 West Le Moyne Street is the perfect spot to spread out with a good deal of parking to be had right outside the fenced-in venue.

This outdoor experience will make the public feel right at home and hits all the right notes, including a fun playlist piped throughout the driving range. The friendly and attentive staff will help people along the way while instructing them with this unique adventure.

Jack's Big City Ranch is brought to Chicago by the creative team of highly successful past pop-ups Jack's Pumpkin Nights, Frosty's Christmas Bar and the Jack Frost Winter Village. Going for a western theme is right on brand for the upcoming summer music festival Windy City Smokeout that occurs at the United Center lot from August 4 to 7 this year. People in Illinois definitely crave some country music, especially some of the classics sung by the iconic Dolly Parton who has a few unique sections in Jack's habitat to enjoy.

There are clever sayings built into the signage that are ripe for photographic opportunities. It's the perfect backdrop to take a break from all the sports activities to relax and snap a quick picture for Instagram.

Plan your trip to Big City Ranch around the weather as it is entirely out in the open. Clean portable toilets are the nearby bathroom options with a "girls" and "boys" side. Where are the gender-neutral options? At least the mobile toilets are separate and private for all guests.

Activities to explore at the ranch are the electric go-karts on a circle racing track and the mini-golf course. The course ends at the covered wagon where your golf ball will be returned to the owners but can be completed in any order otherwise.

Ride a mechanical bull where two participants can compete on who lasts the longest while being bucked! There's a gem mining section to search for gold and jewels through minerals in a supplied bag of goodies.

The ax-throwing area will have ticketholders tossing their cleaver to the bullseye in a well-monitored part of the park. Disclaimer forms are signed at several sections instead of having one waiver for everything at the beginning of the experience. This may be because of different stipulations that need to be addressed in the letter, but is a bit of an inconvenience.

There is a well-stocked bar for beverage options and spicy barbeque right next door to that booth to fill up the tank. This popup is LGBTQ+ friendly and several members of the community were there on the day I visited. Jack's Big City Ranch debuted right on time for the summer season at a time when folks are looking for something festive to do outdoors.
