Winter in the Wildwood transports audiences to a new world

The Otherworld Theatre company is ready to bring audiences something out of this world from December 9 through January 9. Winter in the Wildwood offers ticket holders an immersive experience in a magical realm of wonder and delight. Several entertainers will guide visitors throughout the special encounter for pop-up performances and photo opportunities.

Passerbyers will have noticed the storefront at 3914 N. Clark Street has been transformed into something truly different. Located just north of Wrigleyville, which some may remember as the previous Live Bait Theatre space, is now leased by Otherworld Theatre. Almost every nook and cranny is filled with distinctive items to see and explore.

Artistic director Tiffany Keane Schaefer has an eye for decorating and is bringing the vision of Otherworld Theatre Company to life this holiday season. Patrons can walk through the various rooms that are filled with a variety of objects while witnessing several stages of performances. Schaefer and the team have curated a holiday experience that is unique and creative. Everyone is welcome, being different is encouraged and having a safe space for guests is a main priority.

From all-inclusive bathrooms to a sensory deprivation room, for those that are overstimulated, the Otherworld team has made a space meant for all. This troupe celebrates the unusual and has presented popular shows in the past including Countess Dracula and Medusa Undone.

Audiences in 2021 have shown that they are not content with just sitting at home after a lockdown. They not only want to see a show but be a part of it and this is a smart reaction that growing demand. The success of Immersive Van Gogh and The Office Experience downtown are examples of what people are craving these days and Winter in the Wildwood could be the next big thing to draw people in.

The storyline follows a faun who is on a quest to find out why the Wildwood lights are fading. Look for fairytale stories, magicians and puppetry along the way. The 75-minute show is recommended for children over the age of eight but can be tailored to accommodate a variety of spectators depending on attendance.
