When looking for a way to start off your day, look no further than Goddess and the Baker in River North, 44 E. Grand. This hot spot is a spinoff of the popular Goddess and the Grocer and keeps those same good vibes going.

The cafe is not just a place for delicious coffee and pastries, but now goes on to expand the brand with sandwiches and salads.

I recently tried the breakfast and was very impressed with the quality and taste that the Goddess gave me!

Starting off with a frozen coffee, complete with a wafer cookie, made for a smooth, wake up call to get the party started. The Breakfast of the Goddess consisted of two eggs, toast, hashbrowns and choice of bacon, turkey bacon or sausage. All made to order, kept these traditional breakfast food fresh and tasty.

I had to finish things off with the rainbow cake to celebrate Pride month. This cake has been a staple in Chicago and tons of people visit the various locations to try it every day. The beautiful thing about a rainbow is that all ages can enjoy it and it has a special meaning for the LGBTQIA+ community. Goddess recently donated proceeds from selected to Center on Halsted, a community organization that assists the queer community.

For those that don't know, the colors on the rainbow flag represent hot pink for sex, red for life, orange for healing, yellow for sunlight, green for nature, turquoise for art, indigo for harmony, and violet for spirit. This has something that anyone can relate to, no matter who you are.

Goddess and the Baker, in that same vein, has a menu to suit any taste and demands return visits. The Goddess took a Nunn to church on a Sunday and it was a blessing!
