On March 20, rocker Charlie Benante and girlfriend Carla Harvey presented new artwork at the Zhou B Art Gallery in Chicago. Punk Rock & Paintbrushes, an art management company, had the talented duo meeting fans while discussing inspiration for the various art pieces in the large warehouse space. A DJ played music while guests sipped on Deep Eddy Vodka contails and Dark Matter Coffee cans. Works ranged from original Anthrax covers designed by Benante to hand painted Vans sneakers.

Harvey was a big inspiration in the art pieces where her image was combined with pop culture icons throughout the years, such as the superhero Batgirl. David Bowie and female cartoons also dominated the mixed medium art curated along the walls of the gallery.

Not only is Benante the longtime drummer for the popular band Anthrax, but also contributed as a member to the thrash band Stormtroopers of Death. Harvey is known as a co-vocalist for the band Butcher Babes and her writing that includes comic books and a novel.

Both of the multi-talented couple are part of the upcoming coffee table book Punk Rock & Paintbrushes: The Inside of Artists Written by Outsiders that is planned for release on April 15. Visit PunkRockArt.com for more information on that project.
