Chicago stylist Lora LaPratt is here to help people pump up their wardrobe and spruce up their closet. Her booming business Shopping Girl XOXO has quickly become a hit with individuals looking for something new in their lives.

This consultant works right out of her home at 4847 N Kenmore in the Uptown area of Chicago and started the business over 10 years ago. It's a welcoming atmosphere as she greets you at the front door, complete with champagne and a fireplace. She begins the experience by summing up the needs of the client whether they are looking for a new look or color palette to their wardobe.

She has samples for people to try on and tons of accessories to add to the look. LaPratt says she has always loved helping people with their own unique style and it shows by what she has to offer. If it is a red carpet or a job interview, she has something to suggest for clients to feel confident in. Feeling comfortable in someone's own skin is her main goal along with promoting local designers and boutiques as part of the process. She explained, "I have a huge spectrum of clientele with all different budgets. They come to me to figure out their style and what will fit their bodies. The LGBTQ transitioning community may find it hard to find items that fit them and sometimes they miss out on the early years if they transition later in life. I get to make them happy and feel chic when they walk out the door!"

LaPratt carries between 15 to 20 local designers displayed in her showroom at all times, but also pulls items from all over the country. She will also travel to a person's home if they are comfortable with that. Her focus is female clients, but will also help men if needed and has many male clients that she has continually worked with over the past few years.

Having fun with fashion can be challenging in current times. Many retail stores no longer allow customers to try on the clothes, but in this safe space they can and guidelines are followed along the way. LaPratt can have pieces custom made if needed and offers a one-stop shop with multiple services. Organizing closet spaces are a big part of her work. She will go to your home or virtual visits are another possible option. She has many tips and tricks on maximizing closet space and will even adjust the height if needed with a build out as partners with companies to accomplish that.

The fashionista suggests metallic accessories and faux fur as upcoming fashion trends to look out for. Masks are also predicted to continue in the future and the designers she works with can make a mask to match with any outifit. She even has one on display where the mask is built in to the garmet. Now that is certainly adapting to the times and making it work!
