Khalifa Wizzes into Chicago Once Again

Performer Cameron Jibril Thomaz is better known through his stage name Wiz Khalifa, where he raps, sings and acts. Wiz is short for wisdom and the talented musician now has wisely moved into Chicago with a brand new service. HotBox by Wiz launched this October in Los Angeles, New York City, Houston and Chicago as a delivery-only venture in a time where patrons are certainly hungry at home. More locations for delivery are in the works with Pittsburgh, Denver, San Diego, Indianapolis and Washington D.C. all planned for the future.

Teaming up with GetNextBite.com, a Denver-based delivery service, has provided Khalifa ideas in creating a menu that works well to keep items hot and fresh in solid containers that spare no expense.

Khalifa's team sent over some samples and I discovered the Tangy Buffalo Wiz Wings were the best place to start an at home dining adventure. Sweet and savory at the same time, these eight wings were almost a full meal with plenty of meat on the bone!

The Classic Fried Mac Bites will have cheese lovers singing "Black and Yellow" with a deep fried exterior that's packed with creamy goodness. There is even a Cheetos option for the dish or no breading at all if that is your style.

Perfect for Chicago, a midwestern three bean ground beef chili will hit the spot on a cold day. The chicken and turkey sandwiches were both hits from this award winning entrepreneur, who also offers healthy choices with chicken or salmon salads.

Judging from his smoky entourage at North Coast Music Festival back in 2011 where I photographed him, he is a big cannabis fan and that has influenced his work. Not only does he have a strain named after him, but several products on the menu, such as his barbeque Blazed Ends, make up his brand. His Mile High Dark Chocolate Brownie may be cannabis free, but the rich and bold treat still offers a sugar high.

The munchie menu is available through delivery apps such as DoorDash, Uber Eats, Postmates and Grubhub, so let your fingers do the walking and driving.
