Takito Street Celebrates Mexican Independence Day This Weekend

Takito Street celebrated Mexican Independence Day in the best way possible for customers with delicious tacos and smooth margaritas!

It's hard to believe it was only this year when Takito Street took over the former Fiesta Mexican space at 2423 N. Lincoln Avenue. The venue has lots of foot traffic at the busy intersection of Fullerton, Halsted and Lincoln, thanks to DePaul University and the many surrounding businesses.

Mario Ponce, the owner of Bar Takito in the Fulton Market area and Takito Kitchen in Wicker Park, has gone with a more casual and lower price point with the concept of Takito Street. He takes great pride in this location by showcasing his family in the Takito Steak taco. It's juicy and full of goodness, so lean in over your plate when devouring it!

Before tacos, start off with the current margarita special for only $19.00 [running now through Sunday, Sept. 20,] which includes a cucumber, a coconut and a strawberry margarita inspired by the three colors of the Mexican flag. This tasty trio all use Exotico Blanco Tequila that will take drinkers on a smooth ride to Jalisco, Mexico. Your server will bring these drinks to your table with a flaming sparkler for an Instagram moment, so scream "Viva Mexico!"

For appetizers be sure and sample the queso fundido. Pile the grilled cheese on top of a complimentary chip and simply enjoy.

There are two tacos included with each order and mix it up by trying the family Ponce taco or the arrachera skirt steak taco. There are also lighter options such as the crispy fish taco or go vegetarian with the brussel sprout green farm taco.

For entrees there are Takito rice bowls, enchiladas or more of the tasty skirt steak, among other items to try.

Finish off the night with the chocolate chip cheesecake served with dulce de leche.

From the top down, Ponce and his crew treats their clientele as family and has created a fun, efficient and welcoming environment that will have patrons coming back for more.
