Finding a place to stay in a foreign country can be tricky at times but thanks Puerto Vallarta being the gayest area in Mexico there are plenty of friendly options.

The Almar Resort welcomes tourists with gay flags at the entrance and a staff that will make one feel right at home. This modern adult only resort has spectacular beach views and lots of space to relax. A jacuzzi suite is offered for those that really like to soak their stress away.

Located just steps from the sand and the Mantamar Beach Club, this hotel is still undergoing some construction for even easier access.

The Mantamar not only is a beautiful spot to have a cocktail but is also the home for circuit parties and fashion shows. Lockers, cabanas, and swimming is all offered in Los Muertos Beach thanks to Mantamar. This area is anything but dead with hot men swimming and enjoying the sun at all hours.

Nunn's advice: go early, stake out a spot, and grab a locker. Bring a small bag to carry items to the beach and keep an eye on it or use the locker.

Costa Sur is another option that is a little off the beaten path about three miles away from Almar. It is in the hotel district close to the Hyatt and the bus pulls right up in front. Uber has been available for three months and already affecting the price of cabs.

The seclusion is worth being away from Downtown with no neightbors but the fish as the rooms overlook the ocean. Fireworks can even be caught blasting over the water nearby.

Costa Sur Resort is a gay friendly hotel with a Pride package and LGBT weddings offered throughout the year.

Being all inclusive carries over the food and drink for an extra $70.00 a day. It is worth it to enjoy a fabuous breakfast buffet, snacks throughout the day, and a dinner that rivals many local restaurants.

The private beach and peacefulness of the room were extremely relaxing. Even with a nice sized wedding during the time of my stay, it was not disruptive to my vacationing there.

The staff was helpful especially the valet men at the front who always provided assistance when needed.

This hotel felt like a getaway and if my friends weren't at the bars every night I would never have left the resort!

In the Zona Romantica there are more options to lay by the Pacific than Mantamar. Sapphire Beach Club has some of the best looking staff members in town. They are genuinely sincere at making guests feel at home. The pool is perfect to cool off from the sun.

The menu was kept simple and items like the club sandwich were very filling. Stick to a salad when in doubt or feel like a beached whale.

While many people enjoy the green and blue chair areas also feel free to roam around and check out plenty of eye candy.

Take a break from that cold Chicago weather and plan a trip to Mexico today!
