The Flamingo Rum Club explored with reality stars on a recent night with an event honoring a variety of them.
It was a celebration for the upcoming WE tv show Love Blows that is based in Chicago.
Star of the show Lisa Galos the owner and CEO at Luv Biz Chicago described Love Blows as being about family. "I was born and raised in Chicago. I have been here all of my life." Her son Jamie does the gay division. He stopped to speak also. After he came out of the closet the idea came to him. He was 22 at the time. There is more of a demand for it now. When asked about the challenges he said, "If there is an age difference. People don't want the same age most of the time. The gay community is better at it than the straight community most of the time." He also went on to mention that people date from meeting on Facebook and Instagram instead of a dating app. "They will like a post or photo then send a direct message."
Vicki Gunvalson and Kelly Dodd from Bravo's Real Housewives of Orange County were among the many that walked the red carpet.
Patti Stanger of The Millionaire Matchmaker talked about switching to WE tv after leaving Bravo. "It is a different kind of show and more of an intervention. Bravo was a great run and we don't have any ill feelings."
When asked about gay people in this season she said, "Peter was just on and the first one to get in a serious relationship. He's living with the guy." She has always been a gay supporter. "Why hasn't GLAAD given me an award yet? I haven't even been invited to the ceremony yet." Stanger's gay brother died of AIDS and has had long connection of gay friends in the community.
She spends most of her time in LA, but also New York, and Florida. She did spend three weeks shooting Love Blows in Chicago. "I fell in love with the city. Joe's Stone Crab is my favorite restaurant."
Iggy Rodriguez from Bachelor in Paradise talked about using reality TV for good and is working with The Anti-Cruelty Society in Chicago and the Boys & Girls Club of America.
The night ended with a party packed with stars from Fox's Empire, and even an America's Top Model winner.
