After trying a sample at Baconfest recently it was time to try a restaurant in walking distance from my house with my name on the door.

While the door at 5419 N. Clark Street may blend in a bit with an understated green paint job. When those green doors are opened up look for the place to be packed. This establishment has smarlty installed a new patio in the front to draw crowds in then when people see the massive deck and outdoor area in the back they will come back again.

The sandwich shop that currently has two locations at Lincoln Avenue and Clark Street stands out from the rest. The food sticks to simplicity but there is a large variety to choose from.

The apps are kept casual with selections offered such as Wisconsin cheese curds, and craft beer cheese with preztels.

To wash things down sip on the delicious strawberry lemonade. Drinks in the bar are kept fresh with as much scratch ingredients as possible.

The burgers are house chuck can be topped with anything from fried green tomatoes to Cholula hot sauce.

The sandwiches can be overwhelming with a list that long. There are over a hundred items, but try the buttermilk chicken sandwich and the Anders O with fried shrimp and hot beef. Look for a trusty grilled cheese such as the one titled the Nutball with a mango chipotle chutney dip.

Jerrry's turkey club has delicious root beer ham and avocado. It is a mouthful!

Wondering why the restaurant is called Jerry's? It is named after Jerry Garcia from The Grateful Dead. When starting in the West Loop the owners Mark and Mindy were fans so it stuck.

While the style is casual the service is top notch. Warm weather is on the way so arrive early as reservations are only taken for the indoor tables. Outdoor is first come first serve.

Visit jerryssandwiches.com today for more information on the hours and menu of the two locations. While visiting tell them Jerry sent you!
