Busting Out with Bacon and Beer

Soldier Field was overrun with meat and wheat on Oct. 1. This was my first time to check out the Bacon and Beer Classic but I'm so glad I went.

While it was a little diffcult to find by walking around the massive stadium, it was well worth the journey. There needed to be more signage outside so guests would know where to go. Some of the vendors were even lost.

There were two sessions of bacon and beer samplings. It definitely became crowded as the day moved on. The booths were set up in the outer perimeter of the feel where concessions would normally be served. It was a rainy day this time so it was a smart move to have everything covered with the always unpredictable Chicago weather.

There were 30 restaurants serving up bacon inspired dishes to the minions. There was one section where bacon was just handed out by the slice and that jalepeno bacon was full of spicy goodness.

Many were campaigning to the winner as attendees voted with their ticket.

There were 40 breweries and they could have had a contest for them also. The variety was incredbile. We enjoyed the fruity kind especially with pumpkin and grapefruit flavored beers as options. The coffee tasting beer woke us up and the bacon desserts of Ms. Tittles Cupcakes finished us off.

The photo booth, games, and bacon eating contest were fun and entertaining.

VIP options are the way to go in the future with early arrival to beat the crowds and a section to just sit down and relax off to the side with exclusive vendors to try.

This festival is not to be missed for next year. Visit www.baconandbeerclassic.com for more information about tickets in 2017.
