The Green Tie Ball is a fundraiser supporting Chicago Gateway Green's initiative to make Chicago a greener place environmentally.

This year the venue changed and Architectural Artifacts always makes an interesting place. It provides both outdoor and indoor spaces for guests and a special VIP area upstairs was packed most of the night.

Starry Night was the theme on Oct. 1 as a nod to the very first Green Tie Ball them One Enchanted Evening Beneath the Stars.

What was once a 500 person party has now grown into a limited 1,000 ticket holders.

Food is always a highlight of the event with offerings from Gibsons Bar & Steakhouse, Shaw's Crab House, and Tavern on Rush among others.

Music was provided by various DJs including Samantha Ronson and cover band Dr. Bombay.

There was a special cake cutting ceremony that added to the popular desserts with tables by Eli's Cheesecake and many more.

Over the years Gateway Green has planted more than 4,000 trees, 80,000 shrubs, and 130,000 perennials. Thanks to their efforts more than a million pounds of litter have been removed from our fair city.
