Oktoberfest Takes Over October

Oktoberfest is the largest beer festival in world held in Germany with more than six million people attending each year.

Hofbrauhaus Chicago at 5500 Park Place in Rosemont celebrates this festival in its own way from the end of Sept. to Oct. 23. There's plenty of lively music thanks to a band and the surrounding atmosphere is easy get caught up in.

Fish Fry Fridays and Pork Shank Saturdays are tasting promotions currently going on and there is even magic on Sundays.

The beers are huge in massive 34 ounce steins. Featured this month is the original flavor from Munich called simply Oktoberfest Bier.

To get a good sampling of the food try the sausage tower. It includes a variety of sausages paired with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes. The pretzels are brought in from a bakery overseas.

The dining room can fill up fast on the weekends so have your order ready to go as servers can be overwhlemed by the volume of hungry guests.
