Run to Home Run

Home Run Inn Pizza has been creating yummy food by the original family since 1947. Starting in Chicago's South Side, this restaurant continues to expand. The latest location is in the past Leona's Restaurant space at 3215 N. Sheffield.

The new digs bring a modern flair to the place exposing the brick and adding tons of TVs for sports action. The engineer who did the work was on hand to show where the massive gurters have been installed to support the ceiling. The wall was blown out for a huge bar in the middle of the room.

For starters the menu has blue cheese fries and Tuscan white bean hummus. Wings run the scale from garlic parmesan sauces to fire for the most daring diners.

This is thin crust pizza and not the deep dish that some pizza fans prefer but the taste is still strong. One selection was called Chicago's Best and topped with sausage, pepperoni, and smoked bacon. It was delicious with just the right amount of toasting to it.

For those that continue to like things hot go for the Turkey Diablo if you aren't sick of that bird after Thanksgiving.

For dessert try the cupcakes or the Cookie Monster, a chocolate cookie topped with vanilla ice cream.

With this central location things look off to a swinging start with Home Run Inn!
