Nothing quite says gay spring fling like a bubble butt in some pastel colored short shorts. Throw in some mimosas, a fashion show, drag performances, a cayute pup, and you have this year's Chicago House Spring Brunch and Fashion Show at the sun-kissed Winter Garden Ballroom in the Harold Washington Library.

Screw the auction items, which included a Piaggio Fly 40 4V scooter, Aspen and Villa Corazones Sante Fe getaways, and a summer cruise dinner, I wanted to raise my numba for all the hot menziz that rocked the runway. Sadly, they weren't for sale, at least at this charity's event! I kid! Anywho, more importantly this year was a huge milestone for my favorite daddy chasing charity!

Chicago house celebrated 30 years of service and helping disadvantaged communities affected by HIV/AIDS. And what better way to bring in 30 years young then with a Madonna themed brunch that honored two of the organization's biggest champions. When introducing this year's Public Service Honoree, Stan J. Sloan, CEO of Chicago House, said it best.

"Sometimes when you lack the power to be able to fight for yourself, you need others who will fight for you," said Sloan.

Julie Hamos, attorney and legislator, received the Public Service Award for her steadfast support of Chicago House. In particular, the former representative was instrumental in helping the nonprofit obtain their 501 (c) (3) nonprofit status back in 1985. This year's Spirit award recipient went to Jay Paul Deratany, founder of the Deratany Firm in Chicago, for his contributions to Chicago House and the LGBT community at large.

The Who Could Get It award went to all the male models who strutted their stuff in brands, which included: CRAM Mark Roscoe, L.K. Bennett Karen Miller, Sarar, Lily Guilder, and designs from Columbia Chicago's fashion school.

Oh yea, and there were some female models too. However, I'm sending model Natalie Bryant a bill to get my hair cut again. She slayed the runway and left me edgeless with her bald, black and beautiful self. Clearly, Ms. Bryant has a built-in fan base because every time she walked the runway, the entire room went crazy.

Bottom line, this year's Chicago House Spring Brunch and Fashion Show raised over $100,000 for the nonprofit and its programs, which is more than what I can say about brunches at my place. We usually just raise hell and my neighbor's blood pressure.
