Trixie Mattel Thinks Pink

Trixie Mattel is anything but a Barbie doll. She turns that idea upside down with her fantastic plastic looks and sense of humor. This Milwaukee, Wisconsin drag performer has built a strong following and a legion of fans over the years. While being a contestant on season seven of RuPaul's Drag Race she had to lip synch for her life against longtime friend Pearl. Many viewers were upset about the results after watching it but the Race isn't over yet and many hope for more screen time from the gal with the hair of gold.

Nunn talked to Mattel at the red carpet in Chicago before the show began about her overall experience. It's transcribed below to assist after a microphone problem.

JN: (Jerry Nunn) Hi, Trixie. You are in Chicago often I noticed.

TM: I live in Milwaukee so I work here all of the time! I work at Berlin Nightclub and I am a host for Neverland, a monthly circuit party. I work at Scarlet and I am very close with Trannika Rex. Chicago is a great city and amazing.

JN: It is great to have you back.

TM: Yes, I was here about eight months ago. I worked here right up until I did Drag Race. This is my kind of weather. Southern girls don't know how to handle it.

JN: Well, you dress warm in a fur.

TM: Yes, I brought the fur. I am a vegetarian so I am not going to eat the fur.

JN: Good thing Peta is not here.

TM: They would die. Look it has a little monogram inside.

JN: Where else are you performing?

TM: I am hosting at Hamburger Mary's for bingo. That is pretty much it. I can be a black sheep sometimes.

JN: You are popular here in town.

TM: That is because they like weirdos here in Chicago. Here they don't care what kind of drag you do as long as you do the shit out of it!

JN: What is the first thing RuPaul said to you?

TM: My name, "Trixie Mattel" then obviously my asshole just fell out! It was too much. When RuPaul says your name it's a big moment. I collected myself and just cried a little.

JN: A great experience overall?

TM: Oh my god it was amazing. I would say life changing. I learned so many things. It was awesome. RuPaul is super tall in real life, super tall.

JN: I really like your outfit.

TM: Thanks. Well, it is a modest shoe to go with my fur!
