Half that figure is earmarked for developing a workshop and pamphlets on 'what the media needs to know about its gay audience and gay issues,' said Task Force co-chairperson Al Wardell. The other $3,000 is for developing a workshop and pamphlet 'to make the point that homophobia is the problem, not homosexuality,' said Wardell."

Article in this week's Windy City Times begins:
"The number of AIDS cases reported to the City of Chicago's Department of Health in the second quarter of 1989 was somewhat above the caseload from the same three month period last year. May's caseload was a seemingly record-breaking 103, but Brian Chapman of the City's AIDS Activity Office indicated that May's number was artificially inflated. At least 20 of May's cases came from one hospital which had fallen behind in reporting."

Also in this week's Windy City Times:
"The Illinois Gay and Lesbian Task Force will celebrate its 15th anniversary in fine style as part of this summer of lesbian and gay pride. On the agenda for this gathering are a number of delicious items: a juried birthday-cake contest (individuals are encouraged to bring their baked masterpieces to be judged by celebrity palates), a dance contest for those in the mood to boogie, and the brand-new 'Gay Jeopardy' game for those looking for some friendly intellectual competition and fun. In addition a complimentary buffet catered by Lauren and RSVP will be offered and prizes galore donated by community businesses will be awarded. Gay Chicago's own Rick Karlin will be there to oversee the festivities, which take place from 4 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, July 16 at Paris Dance, 1122 W. Montrose."
