In Gay Chicago:

"The Illinois Gay Rights Task Force requests a meeting with Chicago police officials to discuss 'fundamental and long-range issues of police-gay relations.' In a June 1 letter to Acting Police Supt. Samuel W. Nolan, the IGRTF point out that 'we have been seeking such a meeting with former Superintendent O'Grady and with the director of the Vice Control Division since late last year, but an appointment with the VCD director was refused unless the Superintendent's permission were received, and two letters to the Superintendent were unacknowledged.'"

In the Chicago Free Press "Free Form," Gary Barlow wrote:

"OK–all you gay and lesbian Obama supporters and contributors out there, it's time to let the senator hear you. See, Obama's now homing in on who his vice presidential running mate is going to be and the word is that former U.S. Sen. Sam Nunn is near the top of the list. No, no, no–that would be a disaster. Nunn, you might recall, came up with 'don't ask, don't tell' after Bill Clinton tried to end the military's ban on openly gay and lesbian personnel."

Article in Chicago Free Press by Matt Simonette:

"Shortly after the Berwyn City Council last week voted to add sexual orientation to the city's human rights ordinance, an exasperated opponent of GLBT rights stormed out of the chambers and, according to Ted Korbos, loudly told a friend what had happened: Goddamn it–even the Republicans voted yes."
