It's the first Chicago appearance of Les Ballets Trockadero De Monte Carlo, the famous drag ballet, at the Auditorium Theatre. The complete Corps de Ballet includes Lavrenti "Biff" Stroganoff, Tatiana Youbetyabootskaya, Ludmilla Beaulemova, Tamara Boumdiyava, Nadia Doumiafevya and Igor Teupleze.
1986
Headline in the Chicago Sun-Times reads: "After 15 yrs., New York OKs gay rights bill."
"NEW YORK: The City Council approved a gay rights bill yesterday, 15 years after a measure like it first was introduced in the city with the nation's largest homosexual population.
"The bill, passed 21-14, would prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation in housing, employment or public accommodations."

The Windy City Gay Chorus presents its Spring Concert, "We're Singing Your Song!" at People's Church, 941 W. Lawrence. Richard Garrin, the chorus' musical director, also serves as principal assistant conductor of the Chicago Symphony Chorus under Margaret Hillis.

The Gay/Lesbian Union of Northern Illinois University hosts events as part of their Lesbian/Gay Awareness Week. Films shown include "Domestic Bliss," a lesbian comedy, and "Buddies," a drama about AIDS. Other events include a performance by gay singing duo, Romanovsky and Phillips, and a discussion on "The Bible and Homosexuality."

Two headlines on the front page of Windy City Times this week: "Anti-gay extremists win spots on Dem's ticket: La Rouche followers defeat Regulars" and "Hurt wins Oscar for gay portrayal." The latter is William Hurt who won Best Actor for his portrayal of a gay prisoner in "Kiss of the Spider Woman."

The proceeds help support the AIDS Memorial Quilt's outreach programs and the New Visitor Center.
