Granville Anvil
1137 W Granville Avenue, Chicago, IL 60660
I live in wisconsin but travel alot and also was a resident of chicago for eight years. The funny thing is I discovered the bar after moving away, too bad I really enjoy the times that have been spent there! Especially after finding out Feathers bartends. And if anyone knows him they know that he is a Chicago legend. I suggest to anyone you must experience feathers and you will know what I'am talking about. Not to say the other bartenders aren't worthing seeing!. This really is a great place to relax without all the b.s. I rate this a ten!!! - freedom2658
Well I can tell you this. I was sad to see that no one had given the anvil a review. I just moved to Chicago from out East. I have never really had any "gay" sort of life style as the only thing I knew growing up was to make sure I did not act in a manner that would imply to others that I was gay. I was WAY scared of going to any bar or club, and I am still a bit nervous in boystown, but a lesbian friend of mine got me to go there a few times, and it changed a lot about how I feel about myself and other gay men. I am 24, and most of the guys that were going there when I was, were average age of about 35-45. (though yes, ladies, you do look younger...hehe) Yet it was like nothing I had ever dreamed. The bar tender quickly became friendly. We talked about many things. Old jobs, school. It was fun. Some of the regular guys would come over and say hi. Nothing more than a hand shake. Very nice. No one raised there voice. Everyone sits, and talks, and drinks. The anvil may be in a bad spot, but it should get a lot more attention than it is. I love that place!!!!! Go to the anvil you bitch! :) Just kidding. You'll have a nice time, and you will probably make a friend...or at least a faithful drinkin buddy. Shout out to Frankie! Love, tk - thomsmile
