Pete Buttigieg announces run for president

Sunday, April 14, 2019 - Indiana’s Pete Buttigieg announces run for president, joining a crowded field of Democrats. Buttigieg is the first viable LGBTQ candidate for president.

"My name is Pete Buttigieg. They call me Mayor Pete. I am a proud son of South Bend, Indiana. And I am running for President of the United States," he told a crowd of supporters in South Bend, Indiana.
