Chicago, IL - AIDS Run & Walk Chicago, one of the city's high-profile fundraisers to combat HIV/AIDS, is only a few weeks away! The annual 5K event takes place on Saturday, October 3, at Columbus and Balbo in Grant Park. More than 7,000 people are expected to participate.

Proceeds benefit the AIDS Foundation of Chicago and more than 70 local AIDS organizations. The run starts at 9:55 a.m.; the walk at 10:00 a.m.

AIDS Run & Walk Chicago features plenty of entertainment, an on-site Health & Fitness Village and great fundraising incentives. Highlights include:

• The top run & walk fundraiser will receive two round-trip tickets on American Airlines to anywhere in Europe, excluding Rome, Madrid, Milan and Paris. The top 300 fundraisers as of Wednesday, September 30, will be invited to the VIP Event Day Breakfast, catered by Polo Café & Catering.

• NEW: Debuting at this year's event will be a "Kid at Heart Playground" where adults, teens and children can take part in a gladiator joust, sumo wrestling or a sports bungee challenge.

• Among the jam-packed roster of performers (entertaining before the run/walk, on the course route and after the run/walk) are: Chicago Spirit Brigade, R&B artist Adam Emil, spoken word by Young Chicago Authors, Silent Obsession, DJ Casper, The Joffrey Ballet Middle School Dance Club, the popular James Brown funk band, Get Up With The Get Downs, and many more.

Since it was established in 2001, AIDS Run & Walk Chicago has netted more than $2 million to battle the epidemic. More than 130 teams have already registered at aidsrunwalk.org, embodying the theme of this year's event: "Let's get moving."
