Out for Dean Plans Nationwide House Parties

Washington, D.C. - Out for Dean, the grassroots organization of LGBT supporters of Howard Dean for President, is organizing National Coming Out Day house parties on October 11th to support Howard Dean’s presidential campaign and to raise the visibility of gay and lesbian voters. Currently, Out for Dean has groups in 28 cities with new groups forming every day. The organization is planning celebrations for Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, and Washington, D.C. and is organizing coordinators in other cities.
“On October 11th, lesbian and gay voters will announce that we are no longer a political compromise,” said Out for Dean spokesman Chris Cooper. “The best way to celebrate our visibility is to gather at the same time all over the country to support a candidate who will work for lesbian and gay equality,” he added.

Out for Dean has gathered a growing list of gay and lesbian celebrities who have endorsed Dean as their candidate of choice among the crowded field of Democrats fighting for the party’s nomination. The organization plans to enlist these celebrities as honorary hosts for the October 11th parties in major metropolitan areas.

In time for the nationwide celebration, the group also will be releasing a mixed CD of dance music entitled “This is Howard’s House,” a collection of house music inspired by the former Vermont Governor’s grassroots campaign.
