LGBT Youth Show Choir holds benefit

The Center on Halsted to host benefit concert and silent Auction on Saturday, August 30, 2009

The Chicago LGBT Youth Show Choir at Center on Halsted, is holding its first ever Benefit Concert and Silent Auction on Saturday, August 30 at 6:00 PM, at Center on Halsted located at 3656 N. Halsted in the Hoover-Leppen Theatre to raise funds for its inaugural choral season starting in September.
The concert will feature performances from local talent including Chicago Spirit Brigade. The silent auction will include items from many local supportive businesses. The performance will be hosted by Ethel Bourbon and Evan Trad both members of the music staff of the Chicago LGBT Youth Show Choir
The Chicago LGBT Youth Show Choir was founded by volunteers Perry Simmons and Paul Blievernicht, to provide LGBT youth and Allies a safe place to be themselves and to express and share their passion for popular music. Both Simmons and Blievernicht are active members of the Chicago Gay Men's Chorus (CGMC) and were motivated and inspired to start a Youth Show Choir after attending the Gay and Lesbian Association of Choruses (GALA) LGBT Chorus Festival in Miami in July, 2008 with CGMC where they experienced the power of other LGBT youth choruses. The two partnered with Center on Halsted's Youth Program to create a place for Center youth and allies to rehearse and perform. September 2009 will mark the Youth Show Choir's premiere season.

VIP tickets for $35 per person will include premium reserved tickets to the performance as well as a dessert and champagne reception with the cast following the show. General admission tickets are available for $20 online at www.centeronhalsted.org starting July 27, 2009.
