Stage set for entire weekend of fashion for the whole family

Chicago, IL - Chicago House & Social Service Agency, the first organization in the Midwest to provide housing and support for people living with HIV and AIDS, has announced its "Families for Families" special event and annual Brunch and Fashion Show scheduled this year for May 2nd and 3rd at the Winter Garden Ballroom of the Harold Washington Library. The "Families for Families" on Saturday plays host to everything family-friendly, including kids fashions and entertainment, while Sunday's traditional Brunch and Fashion Show will highlight an all-new lineup of men's and women's fashions.

"The theme is "Fanta-Sea Island Fashion Splash," said Jeremy Hilborn, special events manager for Chicago House. "It will be a warm reminder of tropical fun, featuring the sights, sounds and even flavor and spice from the islands." The yearly sold-out Sunday Brunch and Fashion Show will be preceded by the "Families for Families" on Saturday, both helping to fund Chicago House's Family Support Program which expanded last fall to house and mentor over 20 adults and 45 dependent children who are AIDS affected.

"While children, and even some adults, might have trouble sympathizing with the single, formerly homeless adults who live at our other programs, The Family Support Program is tangible to a broader range of attendees," Hilborn continued. "Kids with hopes, dreams and desires like theirs benefit from the tutoring, mentoring, after school programs, summer camp and camaraderie that are available to them through the program. You don't often think of an entire family participating in a fundraising event, and that's where this is different: Families joining together, in support of families."

George Jewell will cater a delectable brunch buffet, featuring tropical kiddie cocktails, pancakes and French toast stations, miniature burgers and gourmet egg dishes. The entertainment lineup includes a family fashion show featuring Green Genes, Stinky Pants and Macy's, the Chicago Children's Choir and the team from Radio Disney. "It will be very high energy and fun for the whole family," said Hilborn.

Chicago House's island excursion continues the next day, Sunday, May 3rd, for the annual Brunch and Fashion show, headlined by designers, Custo Barcelona, Vizeau, Hickey Freeman, Jorge del Busto, His Stuff, and Macy's as well as many more. Guests will be treated to a three-course lunch from Jewell Events Catering while the Sara Lee Corporation will serve up sweet treats and desserts. Guests can also purchase flowers by the stem to create their own table centerpieces at the one-of-a-kind Flower Market, a favorite attendee pastime at this event.

The Families for Families event, May 2, is from 11:30am-1:30pm. Tickets are $40 for children and $100 for adults. The Annual Spring Brunch and Fashion Show, May 3, is from 11:30A.M. to 3:00 P.M. Tickets are $175 for Garden Seating and $275 at the Runway. Both events will be held in the Winter Garden Ballroom, 400 South State Street at the Harold Washington Library Center.
