Chicago, IL - Test Positive Aware Network (TPAN) has announced open registration for its sixth annual Ride for AIDS Chicago (RFAC) slated for June 6 and 7, 2009. Interested riders and crew members should register online at www.rideforaids.org.

The two-day, 190-mile biking fundraising event will lead riders on a round-trip journey from the campus of Northwestern University to south-central Wisconsin. Riders must raise a minimum of $1,000 to support HIV/AIDS prevention and care services in the Chicago area. The goal for RFAC is to return all pledge dollars to the beneficiaries. Registration for RFAC is $85, which includes gear transport, on route support, meals and overnight accommodations.

"It's a personal challenge and emotional fulfillment like I've never experienced," said RFAC co-chair and TPAN board member Nirmalpal Sachdev. "It's the realization that we are riding for those that can't, and providing resources to those who need it most, when they have no where else to turn."

Event organizers have created a training program to assist RFAC participants achieve both physical and fundraising goals. Complimentary weekly spin classes are offered at Cheetah Gym in Andersonville and outdoor endurance training rides. Fundraising guidance is available to help people get past their apprehensions of asking for support.

RFAC is produced by Test Positive Aware Network (TPAN) to raise funds for HIV/AIDS services in the Chicago area. Beneficiaries for the 2009 Ride are TPAN, About Face Theatre, AIDS Foundation of Chicago, BEHIV, Southside Help Center and Vital Bridges.
