Chicago, IL -
Business owners along North Halsted St. have successfully embraced the cold weather with an entire week of chill activities, closing this Saturday, Feb. 28 with an homage to Brisk Brews, a tasting of more than 40 craft beers.
Following a successful 2014 winter festival, Boystown Frost Fest returned last Sunday with a weeklong series of events from a soup walk to a hot beverage competition. Organizers say the slower season is why businesses banded together."We pride ourselves on our fantastic summer festivals and want to carry that spirit into the winter," said Christopher Barrett Politan, Executive Director of the Northalsted Business Alliance. "We also hope to bring brisk business at a time of year that is generally less robust."Saturday's Brisk Brews event with tasting samples offered from 20-plus local and regional craft breweries will include two beer tastings, from 1-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m., under a heated tent at Waveland Ave. and Halsted St. in Boystown.Panino's will be serving up slices right outside the tent and organizers expect a number of food trucks to be on deck to deliver sustenance to help soak up the suds. An equally warm DJ X-tasy will keep the crowd entertained. Visitors will also have an opportunity to win Northalsted Gift Cards by sharing Instagram photos from the event using @Northalsted and #BriskBrews.Tickets for the 21+ event are $40 and include 15 3-ounce samples and a souvenir tasting glass. Tickets can be purchased online or at the gate, and proceeds go toward funding Northalsted Business Alliance initiatives like extra Boystown security and Pride Fest events.Photos: 2015 Boystown Frost Fest: Warm-Up Wednesday
