The iconic singer and former Go-Go’s lead vocalist will launch the festival; also confirmed Aaron Carter and Mary Lambert.

Chicago, IL - The voice behind hits like "Our Lips are Sealed" and "We've Got the Beat" is headed to Boystown this summer as Belinda Carlisle gears up to kick-off the 33rd annual Northalsted Market Days.

Carlisle, who was the former lead vocalist of the Go-Go's, will be the first ever headliner to officially launch the event, starting with a special performance at 1 p.m. on Aug. 9.

"She's been someone we have wanted for a while and the stars finally aligned for her to join us this year," Northalsted Business Alliance spokesperson Jen Gordon told ChicagoPride.com Tuesday. "She will undoubtedly get the party started in a big way on August 9."

As one of the most successful all-female groups of all time, the Go-Go's are responsible for a large number of iconic hits which sold more than seven million albums. Carlisle continued with a successful solo career with singles like "Heaven is a Place on Earth."

Organizers also confirmed to ChicagoPride.com that teen pop star Aaron Carter and singer-songwriter Mary Lambert will be featured performers at the annual street festival.

Carter, the younger brother of the Backstreet Boys' Nick Carter, returns for a second year. Lambert, an out lesbian, rose to fame after writing and signing the chorus on Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' Grammy-nominated song, "Same Love." Additional acts are expected to be announced over the next few weeks, according to Gordon.

Tuesday's announcement comes hot on the heels of another musical surprise for the festival season in Boystown. A source confirmed with ChicagoPride.com Feb. 20 that Alex Newell, an actor and singer best known for his role as Wade "Unique" Adams on Glee, is officially slated to take the stage as one of Chicago Pride Fest's headliners.

Both Pride Fest and Market Days are organized by the Northalsted Business Alliance. Last year's big acts at Market Days included Wilson Phillips and Lynda Carter. Musical guests who headlined Pride Fest 2013 included AubreyO'Day, Jessica Sutta and Dev, among many others. It was the first year Pride Fest organizers experimented by hosting the festival the weekend before the Pride Parade.

Market Days, which is Chicago's largest festival, is slated from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Aug. 9-10. Chicago Pride Fest is scheduled for Saturday, June 21 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday, June 22 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
