Chicago, IL - On December 29, LGBT citizens, allies and activists will converge at the Chicago Consulate of Uganda to hold a prayer vigil for the souls of those that have been killed simply for being gay or lesbian in Uganda.

The Ugandan Parliament passed a repressive anti-gay bill on December 20 that punishes certain acts of homosexuality with life in prison. Vigil participants will be praying that the Ugandan President Museveni will veto the legislation.

The vigil, headed by The Civil Rights Agenda (TCRA), will be held at 10 a.m. outside the Ugandan Consulate of Chicago, 7822 South Dobson Ave.

TCRA is partnering with The Evangelical Catholic Diocese of the Northwest. Confirmed speakers include: Rick Garcia, Policy Director of TCRA and Bishop James Alan Wilkowski of the Evangelical Catholic Diocese of the Northwest and Pastor Jamie B. Frazier of the Lighthouse Church of Chicago.
