Sidetrack Hosts Celebrity Auction to Benefit Chicago GL Hall of Fame

The Fifteenth Annual Hall of Fame Celebrity Auction benefits the 2007 Chicago Gay and Lesbian Hall of Fame, announced Clarence N. Wood, Chair of the Chicago Commission on Human Relations. The auction will be held on Tuesday, September 25, at Sidetrack, 3349 N. Halsted St. The registration cocktail reception, silent auction, and raffle begin at 7 p.m., and bidding starts at 8 p.m. The registration fee of $10 includes one cocktail, hors d'oeuvres from J and L Catering, raffle tickets for the "Chinese Raffle," and an auction paddle to bid with. The event is sponsored by J and L Catering, Ketel One Vodka, Miller Lite, Napleton Chrysler-Plymouth, Sidetrack, Star Gaze, supergurl images, and Unilever. It is hosted by Sidetrack.
Auctioneers for the evening include David Boyer, Circuit Mom and Jessica Halem. Special guest entertainers include Miss Foozie and Windy City Gay Idol Luis Vega.
Prominent personalities from Chicago's LBGT communities offer items and services for bidders during both live and silent auctions. Items include dining packages, video collector sets, pet care services, art objects, historic treasures, gift baskets, travel packages, theatre tickets, catered parties, and much more.
Chicago painter and photographer Matthew Lew will paint live during the auction and offer his finished artwork to bidders.
"The auction items include a hand-crocheted rainbow afghan from Merry Mary, a reproduction Eames chair and ottoman from Walter E. Smithe Furniture, a beautiful Mandala painting from Robert Skala, a new strike of a Chuck Renslow photograph, and much more," said Bill Greaves, Director of the Chicago Commission on Human Relations' Advisory Council on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Issues (ACLGBTI).
The 2007 Chicago Gay and Lesbian Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held in October. The event is privately funded through donations from individuals, businesses, organizations, and fundraising events. Staff support is provided by the Chicago Commission on Human Relations, members of ACLGBTI, and volunteers. Chicago is the only municipality to honor its LGBT communities in this manner. The Hall of Fame pays tribute to its inductees and documents the LGBT communities' heritage and diversity through its annual publication and its Web site (www.glhalloffame.org).
