Houston hip hop prodigy J Xavier to perform

Chicago, IL - AIDS Run & Walk Chicago, one of the city's most high-profile annual events that raises money to combat HIV/AIDS, will be held at 10:00 a.m. this Saturday, September 15, at Columbus and Balbo in Grant Park. Proceeds benefit the grant-making program of the AIDS Foundation of Chicago.

In addition to a 5K run and a 5K walk, the event will also feature a "Fitness & Healthy Lifestyle Village," sponsored by the Illinois Department of Public Health. The Village will feature product samplings, service demonstrations and information about HIV/AIDS-related services and volunteer opportunities.

Among the musical entertainment before the run & walk start will be 15-year-old Houston hop-hop artist J Xavier (debut album: "Young Prince of Tha South") who recently toured with acclaimed R&B/pop singer Chris Brown.

The musical prodigy has also been very active in efforts to raise HIV/AIDS awareness among youth and, for AIDS Run & Walk Chicago, has been working closely with AFC to encourage the participation of teams from local high schools. His efforts include personal visits to several schools in the week preceding the run/walk.

Since it was established in 2001, AIDS Run & Walk Chicago has netted more than $1 million to battle the epidemic.

Day of event registration is available for $25 from 8:00 a.m. - 9:50 a.m. The event-day registration tent is located near Columbus and Balbo.
