Broadway Youth Center temporarily relocating

BYC: programs and services will continue uninterrupted

Howard Brown Health Center (HBHC) announced Tuesday that the Broadway Youth Center (BYC) will be permanently moving from its current location at 3179 N. Broadway to temporary locations in Lakeview as part of expansion efforts.
"The Broadway Youth Center is committed to providing LGBT youth and youth experiencing housing instability with access to quality health and supportive services during this transitional time," said BYC director Lara Brooks. "There are many space needs and requirements to consider for our next permanent location. The current BYC space, unfortunately, is no longer suitable."
BYC will temporarily relocate to and provide certain programs and services from its Lakeview office, 3837 N. Broadway, and the Broadway United Methodist Church, 3338 N. Broadway.
"We, like BYC, are committed to the LGBTQ community, and we are both also committed to the much-needed programs and services that support Chicago's young people who are homeless or who are surviving home instability," said Rev. Lois McCullen Parr, one of the pastors at Broadway Church.
Since 2004, the Broadway Youth Center has provided comprehensive health and wellness care and social service programs to youth, ages 12-24, including a safe space for young people experiencing homelessness. BYC serves nearly 4,000 youth annually.
HBHC and the BYC have developed a revised and comprehensive schedule to ensure the continuity and delivery of services and programs that will be conducted at Broadway United Methodist Church and HBHC's Lakeview office.
